Oticon donates $25,000 to AAAF
At the AudiologyNOW! AAA 2015 conference in San Antonio, Texas, Oticon President Peer Lauritsen presented a $25,000 donation to the America Academy of Audiology Foundation’s (AAAF) Empowering People scholarship fund.

In a panel discussion moderated by Dan Quall, the need for greater awareness about the influence of hearing loss and what needs to be done to create more public awareness of its implications was discussed by Barbara Weinstein, Frank Lin, Larry Humes, and David Citron.

Dr Lin, one of the most widely respected researchers in the area of hearing loss and cognition, presented a 1-hour keynote that touched on many of today’s hottest topics in hearing healthcare, including the relationship between hearing, cognition, and general health, as well as the dynamic hearing aid distribution system.

IHS Outgoing President Thomas Higgins swears in IHS Incoming President Scott Beall.
The 2014 International Hearing Society (IHS) Meeting offered over 50 exhibits of the latest products and services, nearly 20 seminars and educational sessions, preconvention workshops on ear impressions, tympanometry, and tinnitus therapy, as well as keynote presentations about leadership and entrepreneurialism. It also offered an Industry Leadership Panel that provided perspectives from many of the largest hearing aid manufacturers and distributors both in the United States and abroad.

Representatives Lynn Jenkins (R-KS) and Matt Cartwright (D-PA) introduced the Audiology Patient Choice Bill, HR 5304, on July 31. The legislation, if enacted, would amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to provide for treatment of audiologists as physicians for purposes of furnishing audiology services under the Medicare program.
